Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescopic booms are large industrial machines designed with a straight boom arm which is extendable. The boom is typically located on a rotating turntable. The telescoping boom lifts are typically utilized for jobs which require tasks to be performed at heights that exceed other types of lifts. Like for instance, employees can carry out exterior repairs or renovations on medium sized buildings but utilizing these lifts rather than having the extra work of setting up an outside elevator or a pulley system.
The boom lift bucket usually only holds a single employee. These buckets are better suited to particular jobs like electrical repair, rather than window washing or general maintenance. These lifts are available with both outdoor and indoor tires and come in electric and gas configurations.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are named for the cross-braces beneath the work platform. These braces squeeze together to be able to push the platform straight up. Because these kinds of machinery should be directly positioned beneath the work location, as opposed to boom lifts, these units are way more limited in their use.
Scissor lifts do, however, offer bigger platforms which allow the operator controlling the lift to access a larger work surface once the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of a concern with these models, as they must sit on flat ground in order to be used. Scissor lifts are great for being utilized for window installation or cladding, since they provide the workers with the desired mobility; they are also a good alternative for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
The cherry picker or boom truck refers to the utility vehicle often utilized to raise workers for various tasks done at heights. Typically, these trucks have a cab. It is here where the driver sits and operates the machinery. There is a bucket for where the employee could stand in addition to an actuator arm for lifting the boom and a winch for carrying.
Cherry pickers could lift workers up to heights which were previously inaccessible. The cranes function is to raise both heavy materials and equipment for one location to another. There are a variety of different crane types which could perform various purposes. Both of these different kinds of equipment excel at different jobs and are suitable for particular applications and accomplishing certain tasks.
