Various Kinds of Aerial Lift

A particular type of heavy equipment which enables a person to be lifted into the air is aerial lifts. These equipment are usually utilized to perform repairs on areas which are high up in the air such as on roofs, near street-light fixtures and power lines. Similar to most devices, there are different types of aerial lifts that could be utilized to complete different tasks. For the utmost safety, each and every kind of different kind of machine requires right training and specific qualifications before operation.

Scissor Lifts

Scissor lifts are usually referred to as Genie lifts. They are considered the most basic form of aerial lift. These lifts are made of a platform which is lifted up using pneumatic power and are mainly used indoors. Usually, scissor lifts are the safest type of lift models. When completely compressed, these scissor lifts are capable of being driven like large carts. Generally, when the platform is extended, they can not be driven for safety reasons. Before anybody can use these tools, workers must be certified as operators.

Boom Lifts

The boom lift is a a lot more complex pieces of aerial lift machine compared to a scissor lift. The boom lift usually has a much wider base in order to keep the lift anchored. It utilizes a jointed arm which has a bucket on the end of it. There is a control box located in the bucket that enables the operator to lift and lower the bucket. Because the arm of the boom is jointed, it could also move from side to side. The boom lift resembles a metal scorpion's tail. Usually, it is utilized in construction applications outdoors. The boom lift is considered to be more risky to run compared to scissor lifts, hence, operators have to be certified separately for these kinds of lifts.
