Forklift trucks are important pieces of equipment utilized commonly in business, specially in distribution centers, warehouses, industrial and storage handling facilities. A lift truck is constructed of hundreds of components, such as the carriage, the cab, the power source, the engine and the wheels. Lift trucks usually have a range of attachments also. The following are several of the most important forklift components.

Engine of the Lift Truck - the forklift truck is made with a power source at the rear of the machinery. Different types of forklift truck have various kinds of engine which need varying power sources. Like for example, a forklift with an IC engine could have as its power source any of the following: diesel, gasoline, CNG gas or LP gas. Electric motor forklifts receive their power from a battery or fuel cells.

Frame of The Truck - The frame of the truck is the base of the forklift and the most essential of all the forklift parts. This forms the core of the machinery. All other components of a lift truck are connected to the base, like for instance the overhead guard, counterweight, axles, mast and wheels. Fuel and hydraulic fluid tanks could be part of the frame assembly also.

Counterweight Forklift Parts - the counterweight is what allows the machine to be balanced while carrying heavy loads. This component is made of heavy cast iron and is attached to the backend of the forklift truck. The counterbalance balances the frame of the truck in order to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being carried or lifted on the front. The heavy lead-acid battery in an electric lift truck provides balance and could work as part of the counterweight.

The Cab Area - this part is where the operator sits and drives the machine. Several lift trucks have a cab area that is open to the air and some have closed cabs. There are lots of components located within the cab for operating the forks. The cab has such essential components like the seats, pedals, switches, levers, operator controls and steering wheel. The dashboard has operator readouts.
