Types of Hydraulic Cranes

Hydraulic cranes are among the most commonly utilized types of crane within the construction business. They are utilized to build everything from roadways and freeway overpasses to buildings and skyscrapers.

Cranes come in a wide range of units, styles and sizes. These various units enable both the operators and owners to perform many more functions in their business. Choosing the right type of crane is essential for making certain that the material can be transported efficiently and safely to the place it needs to get to in order for the construction process to begin.

Truck Cranes

Normally, truck cranes have 2 different cabs. One cab is for controlling the crane and the other is for driving the truck when the unit is in transport mode. These cranes are extremely useful for building locations where a crane is needed in numerous different places for the duration of the build. This is due to the fact that the crane is capable of being easily driven from one place to another.

Cranes could also be transported to various construction locations on the road because they drive themselves, which eliminates the need for extra transport vehicles. Being able to travel on their own greatly reduces transport costs at the end of the day.

One drawback of a truck crane is that it is not stable enough sitting on tires alone in order to be able to lift the major loads that a hydraulic crane can handle. Therefore, to be able to fix this issue, outriggers can be extended from the deck. The outriggers make use of hydraulic pressure to be able to slightly lift the truck off of the ground, making it stable and balanced.

Crawler-Mounted Cranes

The crawler crane is unique in that it has huge tracks on the base of the crane. These massive tracks are really similar to backhoes and bulldozers. The tracks enable the crane to move around a construction site successfully.
